Alex is an associate in the restructuring and insolvency team and is based in Newcastle.

Alex trained with the firm, spending 12 months with the restructuring and insolvency team, and qualified as a solicitor in September 2020. On qualification, he joined a firm specialising in shipping and international trade law, and re-joined the restructuring and insolvency team at the firm in November 2021.

Alex has assisted with matters acting for insolvency practitioners in relation to both corporate and personal insolvency, particularly with investigations and litigation in cases involving misfeasance, fraud and other misconduct, but also applications to court on procedural matters in corporate insolvency.

Alex has assisted on matters advising:

  • Insolvency Practitioners, in relation to investigations into both companies and individuals in the period leading up to insolvency, and thereafter pursuing recovery strategies - including court proceedings - with claims often involving tax avoidance schemes and tax fraud
  • Litigation funders, in relation to claims against officers and third parties purchased from insolvent companies, and pursuing recovery strategies
  • Company Directors, defending claims brought against them by insolvency practitioners.
