CHARLOTTE, NC—Womble Bond Dickinson Privacy and Cybersecurity Team Chair Tara Cho joined Exterro Director of Professional Services Robert Fowler in speaking on “Data Minimization: The Holy Grail of Mitigation Data Privacy Risks” to members of the International Association of Privacy Professionals Charlotte KnowledgeNet Chapter.
Over-retention of data is a major data privacy risk, possibly leading to costly data privacy, data breach and litigation problems. US and international regulations specifically require that companies ensure their retention standards are up-to-date and enforced, and that all obsolete records containing regulated sensitive data are disposed. Cho and Fowler discussed how implementing defensible data minimization strategies across an organization can significantly reduce costs and risks.
The virtual discussion took place July 7.
