RALEIGH—Triangle Womble Bond Dickinson offices held a Thank You pizza luncheon for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina on October 14 to express the firm’s appreciation to the volunteers and staff for their daily efforts to help feed families in our area.

Raleigh/RTP Office Managing Partner Beth Tyner Jones, attorneys Jon Mize and Anna Short-Slightom and Raleigh/RTP Director of Administration Christine Peterson attended the pizza event to thank the Food Bank volunteers and staff personally for their hard work and dedication particularly during this time when there has been an increased need for providing food to families affected by the pandemic.

The Raleigh and RTP offices host an annual drive, known traditionally as Pie In July to raise money for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Mize, who serves on the Food Bank’s board of directors, and Short-Slightom served as the fundraiser organizers. Traditionally, the fundraiser features a bake-off competition for the offices.  Because a lot of our personnel are working remotely this year’s theme was Pizza Pie and featured a photo competition where individuals submitted photos of their individual pizza making talents.  Gift cards to a local pizza restaurant were awarded to the top three photographers.

Throughout the years the fundraiser has raised over $60,000 for the Food Bank. This year’s drive raised over $8,000, the largest amount raised in the history of this event with the money raised allowing the Food Bank to provide over 40,000 meals.

The Food Bank has provided food for those facing hunger in 34 counties in central and eastern North Carolina for over 40 years. The Food Bank is an affiliate member of Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger relief charity. In terms of total food distributed, the Food Bank ranks in the top 15 nationally among 200 Feeding America food banks and first in North Carolina.
