WBD has recruited Legal Director, Caroline Stevenson, to join its Banking and Financial Services team in its Edinburgh office.
Caroline joins from Sainsbury's Bank (where she headed up the retail banking legal team) and has worked both in private practice and in-house.
Caroline is dual qualified and has extensive experience in all matters relevant to the UK banking regulatory market. She has particular expertise in product migration and platform, process and documentation design for multiple products.
In addition, Caroline has a strong interest in the Innovation and Fintech markets. Her knowledge and experience will be beneficial to our fintech clients based in the UK and US, particularly those seeking to enter the UK banking market for the first time or for those already here, who need advice to navigate the complex regulatory issues which arise.
John Ralph, Head of WBD's Edinburgh office, commented:
"Following hot on the heels of Jonny Williams into the Edinburgh office, we are delighted to further strengthen our Financial Services team with another senior recruit into Edinburgh. The insights and recent experiences of Caroline and Jonny are invaluable to our in house clients in the Financial Institutions sector, and they are excited by the opportunities for themselves, and WBD. We are delighted to see the continued growth of our Edinburgh office, and will hopefully have further news soon."
Caroline, added:
"I am pleased to join the financial services team at WBD, the team has strong credentials in the financial institutions sector with an impressive client portfolio. The firm is well positioned in this changing legal marketplace for success in the future and I look forward to shaping the further growth of the financial services team here in Edinburgh."
Caroline's appointment follows a recruitment drive which saw a new Head of Financial Services, Jonny Williams, joining the firm and who is based across the firm's London and Edinburgh offices alongside the recruitment of construction lawyer Lisa Dromgoole.
Ranking in the UK's top 20 law firms, WBD was recommended in this year's Legal 500 and Chambers UK, ranking as a top tier law firm across a large number of practice areas, including in financial services.
