Womble Bond Dickinson has been named Private Client Team of the Year 2022 at last night's Legal Business Awards (27 September), an industry-leading event that celebrates the very best in the legal profession.
WBD was recognised for being the top private client team in the country, handling high-value work here in the UK and internationally, in the areas of lifetime planning, contentious and non-contentious trusts and probate, agriculture and estate, and charities.
Highlights of the past year include advising on the sale of a historic 17,000-acre sporting estate and one of the UK’s most famous grouse moors; and acting as an independent trustee in an Agricultural Holdings Act Tenancies dispute over land which was successfully appealed to the Court of Appeal.
Neil Long, partner and head of private capital at WBD, commented:
"We couldn't be more proud of our win last night. This recognition is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our private wealth group as well as all the talented individuals in our team working hard to deliver outstanding work to our clients in the UK and internationally.
"Our team fosters a spirit of collaboration where lawyers, tax experts and accountants all work together to ensure that our clients’ assets are protected, given the best opportunity to grow and passed on efficiently to future generations.
"WBD's private client practice has been advising families and their businesses for over 200 years, combining legal expertise, commercial advice and local knowledge to offer all the solutions a private client needs under one roof."
WBD's private client team is consistently highly ranked in the Chambers and Partners High Net Worth guide, which focuses specifically on the international private wealth market and covers private wealth management work and related specialisms in key jurisdictions around the world. In 2022, the guide recognised WBD's teams in London, Bristol, Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland, highlighting the top tier North East team as 'well regarded for its private client offering' and in the South West where the team's expertise is described as "second to none".
