TYSONS, Va. (January 10, 2023) – Womble Bond Dickinson announced today that Marcantonio Barnes has joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate & Securities Group. Barnes is an experienced corporate attorney with nearly two decades of experience handling mergers and acquisitions, complex technology transactions, and other strategic sourcing initiatives across several industry sectors for public and private companies. He joins Womble from a privately held consumer electronics company in Reston, Va., where he served as general counsel.

Barnes’ practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions, technology transactions involving commercial and federal contracts, as well as complex hardware, software, and professional service procurements. Throughout his career, he has established himself as a strategic asset of legal and business teams and a trusted resource for enterprise value creation and savings.

Prior to practicing law, Barnes was an executive at a large technology firm, as well as at a multinational corporation, where he led several domestic and international business initiatives, including an audit and evaluation of credit lending facilities for the Ministry of Finance in Cairo, Egypt. He has also held public services positions with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Chief Counsel’s Office of the U.S. House Oversight Committee, and the Fairfax County Small Business Commission.

Barnes earned his LL.M. in Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center, J.D. from George Mason University School of Law, and Executive MBA from the University of Virginia.
