Yi Wilkinson is a patent prosecution attorney who focuses her practice on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in wireless communications, electronics, computer software, optics, and medical devices. Yi has significant experience with a wide variety of technologies including 5G NR, 4G LTE, transistor layout, digital circuits, optical diagnosis and medical devices, electric vehicles, semiconductor equipment, and image processing. Yi works regularly with both US and Chinese companies, including a number of Fortune 500 companies and start-up companies.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Yi worked as an engineer for more than seven years for high-tech companies in Silicon Valley, including KLA-Tencor and Applied Biosystems. She was also an Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnic University for several years. Yi received her J.D. from University of California Hastings College of Law; she earned a Ph.D. in Optical Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Alabama in Huntsville; and she graduated 1st of the Class with her B.S. in Optical Engineering and M.S. in Electronic Physics from Huazhong University of Science & Technology, China.
Yi’s years of experience in the technology industries and solid technical background in a variety of complex technologies allow her to quickly understand the technical aspects of the inventions and help her clients reach their goals and efficiently manage their patent portfolios. Yi is experienced in building patent portfolios from “scratch” and providing counseling on patent portfolio development strategies for high tech companies.
