Civil penalties for employing illegal workers will triple from January 2024. All employers in the UK have a responsibility to prevent illegal working. Fines will reach £45,000 per worker for a first offence and £60,000 per worker for subsequent offences. We have seen a major clampdown by the Home Office in recent months, with a significant increase in compliance visits. However, employers have a statutory excuse if they carry out right to work checks in line with Home Office guidance.

On Thursday 7 December, Alan Kennedy and Katie Winter from our business immigration team will talk through the steps you need to take to mitigate the risks and ensure compliance.

In the second part of the webinar, Claire Best from our employment team will provide a general employment law update, covering important recent cases and what's in the pipeline.

There will be a Q&A session. If you have a particular question you would like us to answer, please submit it on the registration form and we will try to cover it in the session.
