Becky Brook, a Newcastle-based associate at international law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has been recognised as a rising star in the North East by leading business publication Insider.
Becky, who works in the firm's corporate team, was named the winner at Insider's North East Young Professionals Awards, which highlights the most talented professionals under the age of 35 across the region.
She was praised by the judges for her excellence in work ethic and client service while also playing a key role in the training and development of more junior team members.
Working across a number of corporate transactions such as leading on a significant investment deal into employee engagement consultancy Scarlettabbott by LDC and advising Augean Limited on its acquisition of hazardous waste management provider Future Industrial Services, Becky was recognised for her "unflappable, balanced" approach to service delivery.
The achievement caps off a successful second year for Becky at the firm, who was promoted to an associate in the firm's November round of promotions after having joined from a Cumbrian firm in November 2021.
Becky said:
"It is an incredible honour to be named the North East's Young Lawyer of the Year by Insider and I would like to thank the entire Womble Bond Dickinson team for not only putting me forward for this great accolade, but for their support and advice these last two years.
Being recognised for my passions in helping the junior members of our team continue to develop and reach their full potential while also making sure our clients are receiving high-quality service is particularly thrilling, and I wish to thank the committee for choosing me out of a highly competitive and talented field."
Working with clients on a range of transactions across numerous sectors, Becky has experience on business disposals, acquisitions, private equity investments and shareholder agreements alongside general company law and governance advice.
Solicitor Rachel Templeman and Solicitor Apprentice Katie Watson were also highlighted for their achievements at the awards, with shortlisting in the Young Lawyer and Apprentice of the Year categories respectively.
